Bonfiglioli Transmission Pvt Ltd (BTFL), a subsidiary of Italy-based Bonfiglioli Riduttori, which manufactures power transmission systems, plans to invest around Rs 40 crore in 2010 to expand its capacity.

Over the next six months, the company plans to increase the capacity of gearboxes to 200,000 units per annum at its Tirumudivakkam plant, near Chennai. It currently manufactures 140,000 gearboxes and motors annually for the windmill industry at the plant.

The company has also already provided industrial inverters to set up a three MW solar plant at Kolar in Karnataka.
