Bharti Airtel has appointed Sanjay Kapoor as its chief executive officer (CEO) for India and South Asia from March 1, a month earlier than previously announced.

In January, Bharti had decided that Kapoor, Bharti's deputy chief executive, would take over in April from Manoj Kohli, who would move to head its international business unit.

The company currently is in talks to buy the African assets of Kuwaiti telecoms Zain.
