Hindustan Tin Works Ltd (HTWL) is considering the option of setting up a plant in South India. One of the reasons to consider is the logistics cost which would include transportation cost and time taken to get the goods delivered to markets such as Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu from the north.
The company has a plant in Haryana to manufacture 260 million cans per year.
If the plant in south materialises with the approval of the board, the investment requirement would be about Rs 30 crore. The company plans to spend about Rs 15 crore on capital expenditure in 2010-11.
