  GAIL's first wind plant to begin by April

GAIL (India) Ltd plans to enter commercial power generation through conventional and non-conventional energy resources. GAIL's first wind power plant of 4.5 MW capacity at Sinoi in Kutch will go onstream by April.

The company also plans to set up two natural gas-based power plants at Usar in Maharastra whose capacity could be between 250 MW and 1,000 MW. GAIL has adequate land available at its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) recovery plant in Ushar whose LPG processing capacity is 1.39 lakh tonne per annum.

The company proposes to set up 250-300 MW power plant in Bettiah in Bihar, which will be fuelled by gas supplied through its 876-kilometre Jagdishpur-Haldia natural gas pipeline which will pass through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
