Hinduja Group, is developing a new 10-storey hospital at Khar. It
is expected to fill the huge gap in demand and supply in health care
in the city. The new facility will be entirely dedicated to surgical
Construction of the new hospital, which will begin functioning in
two months, is complete and workers are hurrying to finish the
interior design by December.
There are plans to have separate staff in Khar. Initially, some
doctors will be shared with Hinduja hospital. Located in the
up-market neighbourhood near the telephone exchange along the 11th
Road, this hospital will not be registered as a charitable trust like
most big ones in the city but purely as a corporate hospital.
The 115-bed facility will have 26 beds dedicated to the intensive
care unit. There are plans for five state-of-the-art operation
theatres and a three-storey OPD building. The hospital premises will
boast of an elevated 85-car parking tower, where patients' relatives
Since this hospital will mainly focus on surgical care, latest
technology will be installed. Of its total bed capacity, 80 per cent
will be in single occupancy rooms, which will be divided according to
class. Twenty per cent beds will be reserved for a day-care centre.
