Hinduja to open its new hospital in Khar
Monday, December 06, 2010

Hinduja Group, is developing a new 10-storey hospital at Khar. It is expected to fill the huge gap in demand and supply in health care in the city. The new facility will be entirely dedicated to surgical care.

Construction of the new hospital, which will begin functioning in two months, is complete and workers are hurrying to finish the interior design by December.

There are plans to have separate staff in Khar. Initially, some doctors will be shared with Hinduja hospital. Located in the up-market neighbourhood near the telephone exchange along the 11th Road, this hospital will not be registered as a charitable trust like most big ones in the city but purely as a corporate hospital.

The 115-bed facility will have 26 beds dedicated to the intensive care unit. There are plans for five state-of-the-art operation theatres and a three-storey OPD building. The hospital premises will boast of an elevated 85-car parking tower, where patients' relatives can park.

Since this hospital will mainly focus on surgical care, latest technology will be installed. Of its total bed capacity, 80 per cent will be in single occupancy rooms, which will be divided according to class. Twenty per cent beds will be reserved for a day-care centre.

The Hinduja group is spending more than Rs 85 crore on this venture.
