Japan-based Toshiba plans to invest about Rs 41,796 crore to build a factory producing memory chips for mobile telephones, cameras and other electronics. The company aims to be the top supplier of NAND flash memory chips with the factory in Mie prefecture in western Japan.

Construction of the plant will begin by mid-2010, with the production likely to start in the first half of 2011.
